Pouring your morning coffee shouldn’t be painful.
Osteoarthritis can sneak up on even the most active person and make everyday activities feel nearly impossible. Thanks to Stem Cell Therapy, you don’t have to stay that way!
We caught up with Carol Smith, a patient at the Albano Clinic. She suffered from intense pain and mobility issues in both of her wrists as a result of osteoarthritis. She was previously a very active person who enjoyed golf and even used to mountain bike, but now, the cartilage in her wrists has deteriorated.
“I could hardly do anything,” Carol said. “I had a year and a half of steroid injections at the base of my thumbs and in my wrists, but I was getting to the point where the steroid injections just didn’t do any good… No idea how I injured them other than the lots of falls I took over the years.”
Everyday tasks became impossible. “I couldn’t lift a plate of food or a glass of water. I couldn’t make my bed and couldn’t vacuum. And could barely do anything because it was so painful… I can’t bend my hands, but I haven’t been able to do that for a long time.”
She knew she needed another option to get her osteoarthritis pain under control and get back to what she loves.
That’s when she heard about Stem Cell Therapy at the Albano Clinic.
“I heard about stem cells from work,” Carol says. “I didn’t have any other option except to have a plate put in my hand that would run from my wrist down to my middle finger.
Dr. Albano was really good to check my MRIs and explain everything to me. He told me what he thought I could get out of the procedures and what I probably wouldn’t get out of it. He gave me all of my options which were very helpful. This is a decision you have to think about!”
So, what kind of treatment did Dr. Albano recommend – and did it work?
Carol explains, “I had blood cells, fat stem cells, bone marrow stem cells, and umbilical cells. I needed all of those because my hands were so bad.
I’ve had a lot of success! There are things that will never be perfect, but I couldn’t move my thumbs or pull my thumbs back before because the pain was so bad. Now, I can move them and they’re great! I have a lot more strength in my hands.
I’m back to work! I work on a computer and a mouse all day long. So far so good!
I don’t have that much pain anymore. I’m making my bed and pouring things – I couldn’t even pour a cup of coffee! Everything changed and it’s so much better.”
Stories like Carol’s keep us going. This is our goal for every patient and procedure. We want to help you move better, feel better, and live better!
Are you on the fence about looking into Stem Cell Therapy?
Here’s what Carol would say to you:
“People aren’t aware of stem cell therapy. I would recommend, before you do surgery, check into it. See if it’s an option for you. If it can work for you before surgery, I would recommend that.
Dr. Albano gave me support all the way through which was a long period of time. I wouldn’t have gotten through it and the osteoarthritis without the support that he gave me. He’s a good doctor and he will be very honest with you about what your results can be.”
