With today’s comprehensive treatment options, you shouldn’t have to continue on with chronic pain and miss out on the activities you love most in life due to your osteoarthritis.

Thanks to targeted biological treatments like bone marrow and PRP injections, you can now return to your active life feeling better than ever – without the pain and stiffness of debilitating arthritis.

Alternatives To Steroids And Surgery

While you may find short-term arthritis relief through steroid injections, each injection causes additional articular cartilage damage – which pushes you further down the path to joint replacement.

Surgical options, such as joint resurfacing and total or partial joint replacement are invasive, have increased risk, and may have a prolonged recovery. If you’re a younger patient, you may even require replacements for your replacement. And if surgery is unsuccessful for whatever reason, less drastic options are no longer on the table.

Bone marrow and PRP treatments, however, offer long-term solutions that leave the door open for future treatments, if necessary. These therapies can provide long-term arthritis relief and possible cartilage regeneration, with a shorter recovery period than surgery.

A Better Solution For Treating Osteoarthritis In The Knee

At the Albano Clinic, we focus on a whole-body approach to help you not only feel better, but move better – longer. When it comes to treating osteoarthritis, your overall health and fitness play a big role.

In addition to low-impact cardiovascular activities like walking, biking and swimming, it’s important for you to do core-strengthening and joint-stabilizing exercises regardless of your treatment options.

For every pound of weight around the abdomen, there are four pounds of pressure on the knee. As part of our whole-body approach, our weight loss coaches are available to help guide you to success. If you focus on your overall health and achieving a healthy weight, your body will ultimately thank you with less pain – both in your knees and throughout your body.

While traditional medicines may provide you with short-term relief from osteoarthritis pain, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc.) can actually thwart your body’s natural healing response and increase your risk for ulcers.

Customized and targeted Regenerative Cellular Injections including Bone Marrow and PRP treatments, however, boost your body’s natural healing process, helping your body do its job to get you back to moving better, feeling better and living better.

Start Living Better Today

My knees got to the point that I couldn’t sleep at night. Every hour, on the hour, I’d wake up and it was like a Charley horse… We did the regenerative cellular injections in my knees and I was back to work three days later. The difference between now and then is amazing.~ Rich “Fast Eddie” Edwards

Bone Marrow And PRP Injections Work “Fast"

Rich Edwards has been a skycap at the Salt Lake City International Airport for more than four decades. His quickness in his younger years garnered him the nickname “Fast Eddie,” though the pain in his knees was keeping him from living up to the “Fast” part of his name. After seeing Dr. Albano, however, Fast Eddie is back to work and pain-free.

FAQs

What is the difference between regenerative cellular therapy and PRP (platelet rich plasma) treatments? Expand

Regenerative cells are usually harvested from a patient’s healthy bone marrow. To harvest PRP, we draw your blood and then concentrate the platelets. We then precisely inject the regenerative cells and concentrated platelets into the damaged area, and both biologics go to work to help repair the damaged tissues.

We typically use both regenerative cells and PRP when treating patients. However, there are times when we use just PRP. Every treatment plan varies according to the individual needs of our patients.

Where exactly are these regenerative cells obtained? Expand

Bone marrow is a good source for regenerative cells and we like to use this type of tissue to help heal

There are many living regenerative cells in these tissues. There are also many healthy growth factors that boost your body’s natural healing mechanisms.

What can affect the results of regenerative cell therapy? Expand

For years, the medical establishment has put an emphasis on reducing inflammation and has employed liberal use of anti-inflammatory drugs, usually in the form of NSAIDs, like ibuprofen and naproxen, or steroids. We now know that inhibiting your body’s natural inflammatory response prevents repair cells from reaching your injury.

Reliance on NSAIDs can actually cause further injury by masking pain and allowing further damage to injured tissues. Our targeted biologics treatments are designed to do the opposite of overused NSAIDs. These treatments don't block inflammation - instead, they provoke a healing inflammatory response to increase the number of repair cells in the injured area.

We highly stress that you do not use NSAIDs during your recovery process.
In addition, smoking significantly hinders your body’s healing response. To achieve the best possible outcome from your procedure, it is best to discontinue smoking six months prior to your procedure.
